  • November 27, 2017 - Jaime Dermotta, an assistant coach for the Loyalhanna U10 girls currently playing as a freshman at Serra Catholic High School was named to the WPIAL All Section Team.  In her first high school varsity year, Jaime scored 15 goals and had 19 assists.  Jaime was named to the first team Fab 15 Mon Valley All Star team.  Congratulations.

  • November 12, 2017 - 2003 Boys win Columbia Fall Classic Platinum Division.  Great work!

  • October 22, 2017- Rainbow at the soccer park.  U12 girls were not able to find the pot of gold.

  • September 21, 2017 - Jaime Dermotta, an assistant coach for the Loyalhanna U10 girls team and a former Loyalhanna player, was selected to attend the US Club Soccer's id2 camp being held on September 28 – October 1, 2017, in Boston, Massachusetts.   The id2 camp is a national identification and development program that provides elite youth soccer players with the opportunity to be scouted for inclusion in the US Soccer National Team program.  Jaime is one of only 60 players nationwide selected for this camp.   Jaime currently plays for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Serra Catholic High School.  Congratulations Jaime!

  • March 25, 2017 - U12 girls win the Mt. Pleasant Spring Fever Tournament.  Very nice.

  • January 29, 2017- Loyalhanna Stingers win the Southmoreland Winterblast tournament. The boys beat the host Southmoreland 6-0 in the final.  Awesome!

  • January 26, 2017- U12/U13 girls won the Premier girl's division of the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena (PISA) winter league.  The team went undefeated with a record of 7-0-3.  Excellent!

  • December 16, 2016 - U10 boys and U14 Boys earn championship honor at the Hempfield Indoor Soccer League.  Nice job.

 

  • December 3, 2016- This past weekend the Loyalhanna United Under 14 Stingers team competed in the Altoona Summit Indoor Classic.   The team earned a second seed in the playoff bracket.  The boys finished as champions with a 5-4 overtime win on a sudden death goal from Tanner Sabol.

  • July 4, 2016 - Jaime Dermotta, Sydney Lindeman and Kendall Walton competed in the 2016 Regional US Technical Championship in Chillicothe, OH.  The girls were selected to compete in the National US Technical Championship in Atlanta, GA later in 2016.  Nice!

  • June 4, 2016 - The Loyalhanna Stingers won the 2016 Chris Kiefer Memorial Tournament held in Scottdale on June 4th.  The Stingers posted a 6-0-0 and outscored their opponents 29 to 1.

  • May 31, 2016 - Congratulations to the Loyalhanna Stingers for being the first boys team in PA West history to advance to the Region 1 President’s Cup finals held this year in Reisterstown, Maryland over the Memorial Day weekend.  The Stingers beat the top ranked teams from West Virginia, Eastern PA and Connecticut before losing in the final to the highly ranked Rancocas Valley Red Devils from New Jersey.

  • May 21, 2016 - Coach Madie Glista received the Katie Marker Award.  This annual award is given to Ligonier's outstanding senior female athlete.  Congratulations!

  • April 9, 2016 - It's a winter wonderland at the soccer park today.

  • March 19, 2016 - U12 grils win the Mt. Pleasant Spring 2016 tournament.  The boys beat Mt. Pleasant Skull Crushers in the semi-final 5-0 then when onto win it all by beating Thomas Jefferson Jaguars 1-0 in an overtime final.  Great work.

  • March 19, 2016 - U10 girls win the Mt. Pleasant Spring 2016 tournament.  After beating a team from Frostburg, MD, the girls won 2-1 in the final against Mt. Pleasant.  Nice Job!

  • March 19, 2016 - U11 and U12 girls play in the Court Time Shamrock 2016 tournament. The U11 girls battled their way to the final and earned 2nd place.

 

  • March 13, 2016 - The Loyalhanna Stingers won the Cleveland Indoor Classic hosted by Cleveland Alliance Soccer on March 12th.  The Stingers were the the sole Sunday travel team registered fro this classic level tournament.  The Stingers were undefeated and dominated the Cleveland Whitecaps in the final 8-2

  • March 12, 2016- U14 girls earn a spot in the championship game at the Yough Spring Indoor tournament after beating a team from Elizabeth Forward and Plum in the playoffs.  The girls took 2nd place after a hard fought loss versus Yough in the final.

  • February 27, 2016- The Loyalhanna United U14 girls win the Winter 2016 Indoor Soccer League at Hempfield Park.  The girls were unbeaten with a record of 8-0-0.  The girls beat the team from Greensburg in the semi-final and went on to win the final against Penn Trafford 4-0

  • February 26, 2016- U12 girls battle to the final at the Hempfield Park Indoor Soccer League.  After winning an overtime game in the semi-final, the girls fell to Hempfield in the final.  Good work.

  • February 21, 2016 -High school girls from Greater Latrobe playing for Loyalhanna United Soccer Club won both Winter 2015-2016 Indoor Soccer Leagues at Hempfield Park.  The girls were unbeaten with a record of 8-0-0 in both the November/December season and the January/February season.  In December the girls came from behind to beat the Greensburg Elite team in overtime 4-3.  In the February 21st final, the girls found significant momentum and beat Hempfield 8-3

  • February 20, 2016 -Access road to the soccer park was washed away due to a storm on June 14, 2015.  A temporary road was constructed to allow the club to conduct summer soccer camp and the Fall 2015 season.  A permanent road with a repaired concrete drain pipe was completed in the off season.  The total project cost including excavation, permits and materials was $39,015.33.

  • February 8, 2016- Three players from the U12 stingers team have been invited to represent PA West at the ODP friendlies in Williamsburg, VA this month.  From left, Carlin Whalen, Nico Lorenzi and Jaime Dermotta will be playing ont he PA West 2003 pool teams.  Congratulations!

  • February 1, 2016 - U12 Girls and U12 Boys Stingers win Somerset Snowball Classic.  Another good result!

  • January 31, 2016 - U12 Boys Stinger team win the Southmoreland Winter Blast soccer tournament with a record of 5-0-0.

  • September 9, 2015 - Jaime Dermotta has been invited to the US Soccer Training Center in North Ridgeville, Ohio in September.  Players are selected to the US Soccer Training Centers by invitation only from a US National team coach or scout.  The purpose of the training centers is to identify elite players ages 12-16 for possible selection to the US National youth teams starting at U-14.  Jaime plays for the Loyalhanna Stingers and the Riverhounds RDA team and began training at the US Training Center this past summer. 

  • August 26, 2015 - U14 boys white team make a donation to the Latrobe Rotary Backpack program in the name of Kara Campbell who passed away and was known for her dedication to teaching and supporting those in need.

  • July 11, 2015- Stingers win championship at the Hermitage 3 v 3 tournament.  Both teams were unbeaten and outscored opponents with four times as many goals as they conceded.  Great job.

 

  • June 26, 2015 - Boys from our U10 and U12 teams earned various individual awards at the World Cup Soccer Camp at St. Vincent's College.  Well done!

  • June 20, 2015- Loyalhanna Stingers U11 3 v 3 team posted a 3-01- record at the Pittsburgh 3v3 Lieve tournament held in Natrona Heights.  The players were placed in a U13 bracket and lost their only game in the semi-finals to a nationally ranked experienced team.

  • June 14, 2015 - U12 Boys Blue team win the Chris Kiefer Memorial Tournament on June 13th in Scottdale.  The team was undefeated and outscored opponents 17-0.  Great Work!

  • Novemer 9, 2014- U14 boys were finalist in the Leggett Cup hosted by Penn Trafford.  After winning their first round game in overtime versus Plum, the exhausted boys gave Norwin a game but lost 0-3.  Great showing!

  • November 9, 2014 - U12 boys and girls both earned the opportunity to compete in the final during the Hempfield Area Soccer Club Fall Futsal Tournament.  The final matched the girls team against the boys.  The girls won by a score of 4-1. The girls team were represented by Kamryn Deemer, Sam Felder, Maddie Delucio, Mackenzie Leeder, Jamie Dermotta and goalkeeper Skylar Hone.  Congratulations to all players for their performance in this eight team tournament.

  • November 2, 2014 -U12 Blue team hosts and wins the 2014 Leggett Cup.  The team defeated Plum in the semi-final and Scottdale in the final.  Great job!

  • October 26, 2014- U12 Blue team finished the Fall 2014 season in 1st place with a 5-1 win over Kiski.  The team posted a 7-0-1 record scoring 35 goals and conceding only 5 goals. Everyone on the 14 player roster scored during the season.

  • October 13, 2014 -Mackenzie Leeder, Sam Felder and Jamie Dermotta from the Loyalhanna United U12 Blue team also play with Century United who won the 2014 Discovery Cup at the Maryland Soccerplex.  Congratulations to MacKenzie, Sam and Jamie!

  • October 12, 2014 - The U12 Boys White team and families organized a breast cancer awareness event at the soccer park on 10/12/14.  $300 was raised for the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center in Greensburg, PA.  The team showed their support of the event by wearing special pink uniforms for their game.  Well done.....

  • August 24, 2014- Loyalhanna Stingers win the Plum Kick Off Classic.  The team were unbeaten in five games and outscored their opponents 31-0.  Congratulations to all.

  • August 24, 2014 - U12 Boys White team earned a spot in the semi-final falling short versus the Loyalhanna Stingers at the Plum Kickoff Classic.  Keep up the good work.

  • August 11, 2014- Coach Fuchs visited Switzerland this summer and attended a Swiss Super League match between FC Luzern and Zurich Grasshopper. I'm sure the boys enjoyed the soccer match

  • August 3, 2014 - Five Loyalhanna United players on the ACA Stingers won the elite bracket of the 2002-2003 girls division at the Penn State 8 v 8 tournament.  The team were unbeaten and outscored their opponents 25-1.  The final goal to seal the championship was scored from a header off a corner kick. 

  • July 31, 2014- The U19 Boys, U18 Girls, U14 Boys and U12 Stingers all finished in 1st place in their divisions for the Spring 2014 season.  Great work!

 

  • July 20, 2014- U16 boys were runner up in the Kick-it 3v3 tournament this weekend.  After going 4-2-0 in bracket play, the boys just battled but lost the final with a score of 7-8.  Team included (left to right) - Hunter Petrosky, Dylan Stephenson, Trace Dunton and Alden Hoch.

  • June 8, 2014 - The Loyalhanna Stingers U12 team finished in first place after a 4-2 win over Somerset today.  The Stingers were unbeaten with an 8-0-0 record.  The Stingers enjoyed great team effort  with eleven players scoring goals during the season.

  • May 28, 2014- Jaime Dermotta from the U12 Stingers team played as a guest player with with Mt. Pleasant's U11 girls team.  Jaime scored in both the semi-final and championship game to help the team win the U12 age bracket.  A great experience for Jaime.

  • May 16, 2014 - Loyalhanna United alumni P.J. Bialas was recognized at Westmoreland County Community College for his accomplishments in soccer.  In P.J.'s sophomore year, he was named to the 2nd team All Region Conference XX team and also was awarded WCCC's Outstanding Male Athlete for 2013-2014.  Great Job.

  • February 7, 2014 - Both HS girls teams earned a place in the final for the Hempfield Indoor Soccer League.  The Blue team beat the Black team.  Good job girls.

  • February 1, 2014- U14 Boys Green team win Hempfield Indoor Soccer League.  The boys beat a team from Scottdale by a score of 3-1 in the final.  Congratulations.

  • November 10, 2013 - U12 Girls win the Larry Leggett Memorial tournament.  The girls won the semi-final 8-2 against Norwin.  The final match was against Plum who beat Murrysville.  Loyalhanna United won 5-2.  Great job girls!

  • November 9, 2013 - Congratulations to Andrew Downey for being recognized on the 2013 WPIAL AA Section 1 All Section 1st Team and Dominic Craine for honorable mention. The boys' dedication to the game has been recognized by the WPIAL Section coaches.

 

  • November 5, 2013- The U11 boys team had an undefeated season playing U12 Division 6.  The boys will get the opportunity to compete in U12 Division 5 in the Spring 2014 Season.

  

  • November 2, 2013 - The over 40 men win their group in the round robin tournament to move on to the final next Saturday November 9th.

  • November 1, 2013 - Allison LaDuke has been selected as  WPIAL All-Star.  She was one of 32 players in the AAA school classification to be selected with this honor.

  • October 28, 2013- Congratulations to Allison LaDuke, Stephanie Kubus, and Ava Petrosky for being recognized on the 2013 WPIAL AAA Section 1 All Section Team.  The girls' dedication to the game has been recognized by the WPIAL Section coaches.

  • October 20, 2013- During the month of October, the Loyalhanna Stingers U-12 team is wearing pink socks in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Since wearing their pink socks, the Stingers have gone undefeated.

  • September 7, 2013 - The O40 men's team are back at it for another season.  They earned at 3-3 tie today away at EEU.

  • August 29, 2013- The club continues to invest and improve programs and facilities.  This summer a $14,000 road improvement was completed which was well received.  Unfortunately mother nature was not kind to the club during a torrential 3" in one hour rain storm.  Our new road was washed out from an unbelievable volume of run off from the mountain.  Thankfully Coach Tim Green's business relationships with Ligonier Construction Company facilitated a temporary emergency repair which allowed us to continue to play and have access to the soccer park.  The repair cost was $1,750

  • August 25, 2013- The Loyalhanna Stingers U-10 team won the 16th Annual Plum Kickoff Classic held on August 23-25, 2013.  The Stingers beat the Moon Tigers 3-0 in the semi-finals and the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils 3-2 in the final to claim the Championship.  The Stingers outscored their opponents in the tournament 23 to 6.

  • August 25, 2013- The U10 Boys Blue Team finished the Plum Kickoff Classic Tournament with a 3-1 record.  Teh boys beat Fury Black (4-2), Canon-Mac Canons (2-1), and the SVSA Hammerheads (6-2).  Moon who finished first seed, handed the boys their only loss (3-5).  The U10 Blue Team exited the tournament on goal differential compared to the Loyalhanna Stingers.

  • June 23, 2013 - Our U16 and U14 boys participated in the PA West Open.  An enjoyable tournament experience was had by all.

  • June 4, 2013 - U10 boys visited the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and mascot Ammo for Antonio Kantor's birthday.  A good soccer experience was reported back from everyone.

  • March 16, 2013- The U14 Girls win the Yough Spring Fling Soccer Tournament.  The girls were undefeated with wins versus Norwin, South Allegheny, Connellsville and Belle Vernon.  The final was a rematch against South Allegheny which ended with the same 2-1 result as bracket play when Abby LaDuke forced a ball in front of an open net and Abby Skatell put away the game winner to break a 1-1 tie.

  • Feb 3, 2013 - Hempfield Indoor Soccer league comes to a close with three Loyalhanna United teams finishing the season unbeaten.

  • Jan 20, 2012 - The club's first adult team competed in the indoor league at Hempfield Park.  Playing against strong young competition was enjoyed by all.

  • Jan 19, 2012 - Seventeen Jr. High girls on two teams played against each other in a semi-final game at Hempfield Park.  Our blue team earned a trip to the final game on February 1st.

  • Jan 19, 2012 - Twenty-six U10 players on three teams are competing in the Hempfield Indoor Soccer League.  Two teams will participate in the playoffs on Jan 25th. 

  • Nov 13, 2012 - Congratulations to Dominic Craine, Alex Stemmler and Andrew Downey  for being recognized on the 2012 WPIAL AA Section 1 All Section Team.  The boys' attitudes, effort and understanding of the game of soccer was recognized by the section coaches.

  • Nov 13, 2012 - Congratulations to Caleb Jackson for being recognized on the 2012 WPIAL AAA Section 1 All Section Team.  Caleb's commitment to the game of soccer lead to this well earned honor.

  • Oct 16, 2012 - The PIAA District 6 has selected players to participate in a senior All-Star Game. The game, called the Santa Fund Soccer Classic, is a charity benefit.  Madison Grimm, Katie DeMayo and Kelleigh Huber who have represented Loyalhanna United and Ligonier Valley High School have been nominated by District 6 coaches and officials to play in this game.  Great work girls!

  • Oct 12, 2012 - Congratulations to Jane Piontkowski, Allison LaDuke, and Julie Slezak for being recognized on the 2012 WPIAL AAA Section 1 All Section Team.  The girls' hard work paid off and are recognized by the coaches in one of the most competitive sections in the WPIAL.

  • Sept 19, 2012 - Coach Tom Kennedy began his second season as the head men's coach for Westmoreland County Community College.  The Wolfpack men's soccer team is off to a great start with a 2-1-0 record.  P.J Bialas, a Derry graduate and recent Loyalhanna United player is making an impact on the WCCC men's soccer program with two goals and an assist in the first three games of the season.  Keep up the good work.

 

  • Aug 29, 2012 - Congratulations to Jeff Thomas and Dominic Pimpinella who earned their E-License this month.  The US Soccer coaching education series helps us to better prepare our youth players to compete and enjoy their soccer experience.

 

  • August 10, 2012 - A group of our U10 players visited with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds for Maddie Delucio's birthday.  The kids enjoyed the experience and played in a halftime game.

 

  • July 28, 2012- The high school boys participated in the PA West Referee Camp's Sportsmanship Tournament at California University.  The boys enjoyed the day and helped train new referees.  For the second year, the boys finished strong without a loss.

 

 

  • July 1, 2012 - Alden Hoch and Hunter Petrosky competed in the Region 1 tournament in Lancaster, PA.  Their Hotspurs team went 1-1-1 earning them a 2nd place finish in their bracket.  Well done!

  • June 24, 2012 - The U14 Boys played a spirited PA West Open tournament winning their group and semi-final.  The boys finish as runner up after an overtime loss to Woodland Hills.  Congratulations to the boys for all their hard work.

  • June 18, 2012 - Our U17 and U10 girls team competed in the PA West Open this past weekend.  After a nervous start, the U10 girls won their 3rd game 4-2 against Seneca Valley.  The U17 girls played five games in 36 hours and took home the championship honors after beating the team from Somerset in double overtime.  Congratulations to all the girls who competed in the Open!

  • May 23, 2012- Congratulations to Loyalhanna United players Alden Hoch and Hunter Petrosky who are Under 13 State Cup Champions .  Alden and Hunter played for the Hotspurs team that beat Beadling 2-0.  The boys will represent their age group for our state association at the USYSA Region 1 tournament in Lancaster, PA on June 28, 2012.

 

  • April 24, 2012 - Late April snow storm closes fields for two days.

  • March 15, 2012 - Thank you Tim Green for bringing equipment to the Soccer Park to fortify the protective rock wall around the fields.  Recent trespassers on four wheel off road vehicles breached the protective wall and damaged the soccer fields.  Cameras have now been installed at the soccer park to assist in any prosecution of criminal activity.

  • March 6, 2012 - U14 boys won the Monroeville Jack Frost Tournament on Feb 11 with a 3-0-1 record.  The team finished a strong indoor season winning the Connellsville March Mayhem tournament with a 5-0-0 record.

  • Feb 27, 2012-U14 boys from our club and friends from other PA West teams played in the Indoor Nationals at Soccer Sportsplex, North Olmstead, OH. The boys won their three game bracket but ended the tournament in the playoff against the eventual winner - Excalibur from Cleveland, OH.  The boys had a great experience at this national event.

  • Feb 20, 2012-Congratulations to the U14 Latrobe Plus team who finished as champions at Hempfield Park this weekend. The team was comprised of club players and friends from Kiski.  The final went into sudden death overtime vs. another team of Loyalhanna United players who tied the score in the last 30 seconds.  The overtime goal for Latrobe Plus cemented the championship with a final score of 3-2.

  • Feb 20, 2012-Congratulations to our U12 Coed team who finished as runner up  at Hempfield Park this weekend. It was an exciting game with a near comeback in the last 30 seconds.  Final score LUSC 9- Hempfield Hotshots 10. Well done!

  • December 27, 2011 - Coaches David Lorenzi and Vincent Pimpinella complete Top Soccer coaches training with PA West.  We look forward to organizing our program in the Spring.

  • Aug 1, 2010 - Past youth player Vincenza Pimpinella shared Loyalhanna United logo wear and equipment in a village near Arusha, Tanzania during a summer teaching program.  We hope the shared experiences were as valuable to the people in the village as it was for Vincenza.

  • July 24, 2010 - Thanks to Keith Kemerer and Allegheny Power who's community service project provided new U12 game goals and training goals for the soccer park.

  • July 23, 2010 - We concluded the 13th annual summer camp at the soccer park this week.  115 players and 12 coaches participated in five days of training and fun soccer games.  We look forward to watching these young players in future tournaments and leagues.

  • July 20, 2010 - Thanks to all who helped make the 5th annual golf outing a huge success.  Over $4,000 was raised for future improvements to our facilities and programs.

  • June 27, 2010 - The U14 Girls are PA West Silver Division Champions.  After playing through the group stages against Woodland Hills, South Fayette, Harmar and Penn Hills, the girls earned a trip to the final.  After double overtime against a strong Tri-City team, it took eleven penalty kicks from the spot to decide a winner.  Congratulations to the girls and coaches for a great Open tournament!

  • June 20, 2010- The U12 Boys did well in the PA West Open in Edinboro, PA this weekend.  After strong group play with 4-0 and 8-0 wins to name a few, the boys battled for an opportunity to play in the final.  The boys played a close match against a much older and bigger side from Thomas Jefferson.  After a 1-1 deadlock, the boys engineered an attack on goal only to be denied by the cross bar.  With the game nearing the end, the boys were down 1-3.  A come-from-behind goal was recorded with less than a minute in the game (score was 2-3).  In the end the boys left Endinboro as runner up in U12 Boys open division.  This was an outstanding performance by the boys!

  • June 20, 2010 - The U12 Girls played in an end of season tournament at Turner Valley. The girls team went 2-1 during the qualifying games earning a trip to the championship game with a spirited 1-0 win over the Norwin Yacko team. The Norwin Yacko team only needed a tie in order to advance, but the Loyalhanna team overcame a packed defense to score the win. The girls eventually fell 2-0 in the championship game to the Norwin Walker team. Great effort by all who played.

  • June 7, 2010- Congratulations to the following spring teams who placed 1st in the PA West East district leagues; U11 girls (record 7-1-0), U12 boys (record 7-1-0), U17 Girls Black (record 6-0-2), U17 boys (record 7-1-0).  Keep up the good work and enjoy the summer!

  • March 7, 2010- The past weekend showcased 60 club players on 9 different teams at the Latrobe Ice Breaker tournament.  The competition was excellent and two teams earned trips to championship games.  The U14 girls played through the brackets and ultimately lost 3-1 to a skilled and athletic team from Norwin.  The U17 boys played the whole tournament without reserves and during the semi-final played one man short for half the game.  These boys found their way to the final after outlasting Penn Trafford 6-5.  The boys exit the tournament in an exciting game as runner up after a loss to Richland 4-3. 

 

  • February 22, 2010 - Eleven teams participated in the Hempfield Indoor Soccer League this past winter.  The following six teams earned a ticket to the final on February 19th for their age group, U12 Girls, U12 Boys (Latrobe United), U14 Boys, HS Girls Black, HS Girls Blue, HS Boys Black.

  • November 17, 2009 - Congratulations to Coby Green and Connor Nemunaitis for being selected to the 1996 year PA West - Olympic Development Program.  Keep up the good work!

  • November 8, 2009 - The Larry Leggett Memorial Cup was held at the soccer park.  Both Loyalhanna United U14 girls and boys played in the mini tournament.  The boys and girls both won their semi-final game to earn the chance to play for the trophy.  Both teams finished strong,  The girls beat Penn Hills in the final 5-1 and the boys beat Kiski 6-0.  Thanks to everyone who helped make this event a the soccer park a success. 

  • November 8, 2009 - A huge thank-you goes out to Marie Stauffer, Beth Campbell and Diana Petrosky for organizing a concession stand for the Larry Leggett Memorial Cup.  A total of six games were played on this beautiful day and the concessions helped to make everyone's experience better. The $434 made will help to defer the cost of future soccer events.

  • November 7, 2009 - Congratulations to the Greenburg Central Catholic Boys High School Soccer team for their strong finish as the WPIAL Class A Boys champion.  Good luck in the PIAA tournament.  Members of the GCC team include Dominic Pimpinella, Greg Kemerer and Christian Szekely who played on our U16 boys team in the Spring 2009 season.  Tim Wood and Rooney Columbus are currently referees with the club and played on past Loyalhanna United teams.  Past LUSC players on the GCC team include; Chris Brown, Daniel Szekely, Ryland Smith, Phil Croker, Tyler Hillman, Brian Gongaware and Woody Griffith.     

  • November 1, 2009- Hilary Bastin and Sarah Slezak were named to WPIAL Section 1 - AAA All Section team. Hilary and Sarah are referees with the club and attend Greater Latrobe High School.  Keep up the good work.

  • February 21, 2009.  Loyalhanna United entered three teams in the 1st indoor league at Hempfield park. Congratulations to the U10 girls, U14 boys and High School Boys who were all finalists in the season end tournament.  We hope to enter more teams in the Winter 2010 season next year.

  • May 18, 2008 - Our club families donated a variety of slightly used soccer gear which was sent to needy children in Ecuador.  Items included cleats, balls, short, socks, shirt, shin guards and goalkeeper gloves.  175 items were sent to Ecuador.  Thank you to everyone for your generosity.

  • May 10, 2008- The first phase of the electrical service project is complete.  We now have pavilion lighting, security lighting, and outlet power for other uses.  An additional small pavilion will be built near the electrical service building. Future plans under consideration include field lighting and irrigation.  Thanks to David Gebhart for managing this project.

  • May 9, 2008- Allegheny Power's Latrobe Service Center donated $300 to the club for general use purposes.  Thanks to Keith Kemerer for organizing this donation with Allegheny Power

  • May 8, 2008 - Scalise Construction donates four truck loads of high quality topsoil for overdressing the fields this spring and summer.

  • March 10, 2008 - Three teams from Loyalhanna United competed in the Latrobe Ice Breaker Tournament. The U14 boys played in a very competitive bracket against two teams that ultimately met in the finals. The players were; Jake Reed, Dan Kubus, Brett Baughman, Luke Gaten, Nick Shannon, and David Halula.  The 6th grade Loyalhanna girls' team (Emma Kate Womack, Rae Reed, Allison LaDuke, Taley Dunaway, Sarah Kemerer, Nichole Sullivan, Alexa Venneri) played strong against older teams.  After getting rid of their nerves in a close game against Somerset, they easily beat the Latrobe Jr. High team.  In their final game the girls were down 1-6 against Hempfield and battled back with 3 more goals only to run out of time before they were able to equalize the game.   The 7th grade Loyalhanna girls' team (April Krivoniak, Mary Frances Fratto, Hanna Green, Gina Rock, Taylor Swezey, Marissa Duval) won their bracket with a win against Mt. Pleasant and McKeesport. In their 3rd game they tied the LUP&R team 1-1.  After beating Somerset in the semi-finals they fell in a close match versus Hempfield to exit the tournament as runner up. 

  • Feb 20, 2008 - Underground electricity service is being installed at the soccer park this winter.  We are planning on having electricity and lights at the pavilion by April 1, 2008.

  • Feb 20, 2008- The club applied for the US Soccer Foundation 24/7 all conditions grant in 2007.  Although our application received serious consideration, in the end we were not selected to receive the grant.  Click here for the official notice

  • Feb 17, 2008 - Our U11 girls attended the Shoot To Score 4 v 4 tournament at the University of Pittsburgh.  The tournament was very competitive. The players were; Courtney Clark, Ava Petrosky, Stephanie Kubus, Brooke Baughman and Claudia Torillo.  After getting used to the format, the team won their 1st game.  With only 5 minutes left in the last game, the team was tied 1-1 with a strong team from Erie, PA.  Exhaustion took over and the girls conceded the winning goal to their opponent. The tournament was a good experience for all players and supporters

  • Nov 26, 2007 - Three teams competed in the Penn Hills tournament this past weekend.  Two out of three teams earned a spot in the finals.  U12 Girls won their bracket with a 3-0 record. The girls ended up losing in sudden death overtime in the semifinals and took 3rd place in the tournament.  The U14 boys made it through their bracket, won the semifinal and took the 2nd place trophy after exhausting all their energy. Congratulations to all players and coaches.

  • Nov 21, 2007 - Interest in soccer continues to grow in our region and with the club.  113 players are registered for indoor soccer training for the first winter session.  The club rents space from the Greensburg Racquet Club and Bishop Connare Center for skills training.  The following age groups are playing, U6/U8 Coed, U10 Coed, U12 Coed, U13/U14 Girls, High School Girls, U14/U16 Boys.  Many teams will also be attending tournaments this winter in Western Pennsylvania.

  • Nov 11, 2007- The Club purchased an industrial aerator (48" wide) to further improve the fields for future seasons.  The fields have been treated and aerated for the winter.

  • Aug. 16, 2007 - 30 young players from Loyalhanna United participate in the PA West / US Soccer national coaching program at Pitt Greensburg.  The participants had an opportunity to play for many different coaches from around the country.

  • July 29, 2007 - Five teams competed in the Kick It 3v3 tournament this past weekend.  Four out of five teams earned a spot in the finals.  U10 Girls played a five game 1st round and exited on the short end of a three team tie breaker.  The U11 and U12 girls played each other in the final with the U12 girls taking the 1st place medal.  The U12 boys left everything they had on the field with three out of five players injured by the end of the final game.   • July 28, 2007 - 101 players attended camp this past week.  An excellent time was had by all.  Camp photos added to "Camp" section of website.

  • June 29, 2007 - U17 girls attended the NOSO Cup in Cleveland, OH.  The team faced one team from Rochester, NY and two teams from Ohio.  Being a competitive tournament the girls left exhausted with a greater appreciation for the potential to improve as a player and teammate.

  • June 23, 2007- U19 Boys earn two wins and a tie in the PA West Open in Edinboro. The boys finished tied for 1st place in the preliminary round with a 0-0 score against a team from Hanover, PA. Our team did not move on to the semifinal because Hanover had a better goal differential.  Great job boys and better luck next time!

  • April 23, 2007 - Club purchased a "DR Power Grader" to smooth out the access road to our fields.  This equipment helps minimize rain water damage to the roads and the field parking lot.

  • March 19, 2007- The "TANK" field mower has been paid off.  The club purchased this equipment using a 36 month no interest payment plan from Club Cadet.

  • March 6, 2007 - Ten travel teams are declared in the PA West East District for the spring season.  As soon as the weather permits, we will begin practices.  Our 1st game is April 1, 2007.  Schedules will be available after March 19, 2007

  • March 4, 2007 - U12 Girls (6th graders from Latrobe) played in the Latrobe Ice Breaker Tournament. This was a Jr. High event against 7th and 8th grade players from Southmoreland, Hempfield, Mt. Pleasant, and Latrobe.  The girls had a good experience, played against the eventually finalists and came in 5th place.  Keep up the good work.

  • Jan 7, 2007 - Two U12 Girls teams participated in the University of Pittsburgh Shoot to Score Tournament on 1/6/07. One of our teams made it through group play after winning their bracket. The team of Hanna Green, April Krivoniak, Mary Frances Fratto, Taylor Swezey and Kate Rellick took 2nd place out of 7 teams from the Pittsburgh area including the winning team from Erie, PA.  A well played afternoon of soccer!

  • Nov 26, 2006- The U14 boys played an excellent tournament this weekend.  The boys earned their way into the semi-finals of the Penn Hills Autumn Ambush tournament. In the last game, a strong team from Southmoreland beat the Loyalhanna United team by a score of 2-1.

  • Nov 16, 2006 - Congratulations Tierney Guarascio, Vincenza Pimpinella, Alyse Puskar and the GCC High School girls soccer team for being the state runner up in the PIAA tournament in Hershey this month.

  • Nov 5, 2006 - U12 Girls were defeated by Monroeville Mavericks in the 1st game of the Leggett Cup.  Better luck next year.

  • Nov 2, 2006- Ligonier High School girls team played an outstanding game against #1 ranked Bishop McCort on Monday October 30th.  Bishop McCort scored the lone goal with six minutes left to play in the game.  Congratulations to the Ligonier girls for a great season.  See you in the Spring 07.

  • Nov 27, 2005 - Congratulations to Ryan Edwards and the Messiah College soccer team.  The team repeated as NCAA Div III National Champions.  Messiah beat Plattsburg State 4-0 in the semi-finals and were crowned as champions in a 1-0 win over Gustavus Adolphus from St. Peter, Minnesota.  As well as scoring the 4th goal in the game against Plattsburg State, Ryan Edwards scored the game winning goal in the 69th minute of the finals in Greensboro, NC.  Messiah College wins it's 2nd straight national championship and 4th in six years.  For the full story visit the link below  http://www.ncaasports.com

  • Nov 20, 2005 - Congratulations Vincenza Pimpinella and the Greensburg Central Catholic girls soccer team.  The team finished the 2005 season as a finalist in the PIAA-AA tournament.  After being ahead 1-0 at halftime, GCC lost to Villa Joseph Marie 4-2 at Hershey Park Stadium on Saturday 11-19-05.

  • Nov 14, 2005 - Our Fall U10 team went 6-2 in their 1st season.  See the team picture below from the Latrobe Bulletin from Nov 8, 2005.

  • Nov 6, 2005-The PAWest East District Leggett Cup Tournament was hosted at the Loyalhanna Soccer Park.  The top four U14/U15 boys teams were chosen from the 13 teams who played in the Fall 2005 season.  In the first round Pittsburgh Dynamo Desperadoes defeated  Penn Trafford Rebels in penalty kicks after 2 overtime periods. Loyalhanna United defeated Tri-City Soccer Association by a score of 3-1.  Goal scorers for Loyalhanna United were Zachry Earhart, Dominic Pimpinella (assisted by Daniel Szekley) and Mike Harr.  The final game was played after a short rain delay between the Desperadoes and Loyalhanna United.  After the 1st half, Loyalhanna United was ahead 1-0 on a goal from Brian Gongaware.  Early in the 2nd half, Dynamo equalized the score.  1 minute before the final whistle, Loyalhanna United scored on a long shot by Rooney Columbus.  With 10 seconds left in the game, a Dynamo goal sent the game into overtime.  After 2 minutes in sudden death overtime, Anthony Tavella slotted a pass behind the Dynamo defense to Dominic Pimpinella who scored the winning goal.  Goalkeeper for Loyalhanna United was Andrew Barnhart.

  • Nov 5, 2005- Congratulations to Vincenza Pimpinella and her Greensburg Central Catholic teammates for winning the AA WPIAL tournament.  Good Luck in the PIAA Tournament!

  • Nov 1, 2005- Several U19 girls have been selected to play in the Tourney Sport USA Hawaii Girls Soccer Classic in July 2006.  Kassie Enos, Rachel Blistan, Laura Kennedy, Alex Grab, Rebecca Sharbaugh, and Lauren Cassler were selected from a national pool of soccer players.  Selections were based on soccer ability, academics, community service and coaches recommendations.  The tournament recognizes outstanding 10th and 11th grade girls from all over the USA.  The girls will have an opportunity to play soccer in Hawaii, learn about the culture and see the sights.  Good job ladies and enjoy your trip!

  • Oct 14, 2005 - Loyalhanna United sweatshirt sales contribute $319 to club operating expenses.  Thank you for all who purchased a sweatshirt and Jackie Pimpinella for organizing the sweatshirt program.

  • August 18, 2005 - US Youth Soccer held a national coaching program at the University of Pittsburgh -Greensburg campus.  Coaches from two countries and six states attended the program along with Vince Pimpinella from Loyalhanna United.  Many of these coaches presently serve on the  Olympic Development Program staff in the states of NY, PA, VA, TX,  NC and IN.  Loyalhanna United players had an opportunity to play for these talented coaches.  Our players enjoyed themselves and were able to impress the coaches with their soccer playing abilities.  Well done!  Click on the photo for a larger view of the players and coaches

  • July 16, 2005 - Over 40 players participated in the Westmoreland Soccer Camp in July.  It was an enjoyable time for all those who participated. Everyone played hard and improved their technical and tactical understanding of the game. New friends shared time together including two campers from Charlotte, NC. Click on photo for a larger view.

  • June 7, 2005 - Congratulations to all Loyalhanna United players who participated in the PA West State Cup.  The State Cup is the highest level of soccer competition in Western  Pennsylvania.  Bree Piper, Maura Bainbridge, Carly Klasnic, and Elizabeth Harkins played with the Foothills U14 Girls Classic team in the final four weekend.  Hilary Bastin played for Penns Forest U13 Girls team that lost a tough match during the finals against Beadling.  Vincenza Pimpinella and Penns Forest's U15 Girls team earned their 2nd State Championship.  Dominic Pimpinella and Daniel Szekely played for the U12 Penns Forest Boys team that beat a Beadling team that entered the State Cup with a record of 16-0-0.  Vincenza, Dominic, and Daniel will represent their age group for our state association at the USYS Region 1 tournament in Virginia Beach, VA on June 31-July 5.  Well done!

  • May 2, 2005 - Southern Living At Home fundraiser was a great success.  Thanks to all who participated.  $2,000 was raised for club investment at the Soccer Park.  A special thanks goes out to Joy Klohonatz who organized the fundraiser!

  • Aug 22, 2004 - Opening day was a blast.  Over 130 players and 200 fans attended our soccer festival and had the opportunity to enjoy a great day at the Loyalhanna Soccer Park.  With our ribbon cutting ceremony, the Park is officially a part of Pennsylvania soccer history. 

 

  • Aug 14, 2004 - Thank You to all volunteers who participated in the work day at the soccer park on Aug. 14.  At one point we had 70 people at the fields removing rocks, weeding the parking lot, installing signs, assembling goals, and grading the access road banks.  Your time and effort is greatly appreciated. 

  • June 28, 2004 - U14 Girls made it to the quarter finals at the Chevy Open Division B tournament.  The girls finished with a record of 2-1-1.  Good job!

  • Jan 12, 2004- Congratulations to Brett Matson who was selected by the PG East as one of their Soccer All-Stars.  Brett was also named to the 2003 WPIAL A All-Stars.  This is the highest honor a soccer player can receive in the area.

  • Dec 7, 2003- Girls U12 team participated in the University of Pittsburgh Shoot to Score 4 vs. 4 tournament.  The team members included Hillary Bastin, Laura Shuhart, Hannah Meyer, Olivia Seecof, and Emma Straight.

  • Nov 30, 2003- Congratulations to members of the U12 Boys' team for winning the University of Pittsburgh Shoot To Score 4 vs. 4 tournament.  The team of Tim Wood, Rooney Columbus, Doug Johnson, Patrick Davoli, and Dominic Pimpinella took 1st place with a record of 5-0.

  • Nov 30, 2003- Congratulations to members of the Loyalhanna United U8 team.  The team of Emma Kate Womack, Anthony Guidera, Eddie Kilkeary, Nicky Halula, Coby Green, and Daniel Staffen competed in their 1st indoor tournament at the University of Pittsburgh. It was an enjoyable experience for all and the team finished with a 1-2-1 record.

  • Nov 27, 2003- Brett Matson is recognized for boys soccer WPIAL Section 2-A All-Star Team for the second year in a row.

  • Nov 27, 2003 - Congratulations to Coach Tom Kennedy and his Greensburg Central Catholic team for a terrific run at the PIAA Class A state championship.  The team was only one game away from a trip to Hershey but fell to the state runner up in a 1-0 overtime loss.

  • Nov 25, 2003- Ryan Edwards and CJ Rullo are recognized for boys soccer ALL-WPIAL Section 1-AAA

  • Nov 25, 2003- Zach Dixon and Jared Bundy are recognized on the WPIAL Section 1-AA All-Star Team

  • Nov 22, 2003 - U14/U15 Girls participate in Faith in Action program.  The team help out an elderly person in Unity Township who needed leaves raked before the winter and could not do it on her own.

  • September 13, 2003- Club honors volunteers at annual appreciation mixer.  We appreciate the continued support for our youth and adult club members

  • September 3, 2003 - Loyalhanna United now offers a fun developmental program for youth players ages 5, 6, 7, and 8.
